Sharm El Sheikh enjoys more than 300 sunny days a year, very little rain and a sea that stays swimmable in every season. That makes it one of the most reliable sun destinations within a few hours of Europe and the Gulf. Still, the best time to visit depends on what you want from your holiday: winter warmth, the warmest water for diving, or quieter resorts.
Sharm El Sheikh weather at a glance
- December to February: daytime around 21–24 °C, cool evenings, sea about 21–23 °C — perfect winter sun
- March to May: warm and pleasant, 25–32 °C, sea warming up from 22 to 25 °C — one of the best periods overall
- June to August: hot and dry, often 35–40 °C, sea around 26–28 °C — ideal for divers and heat lovers
- September to November: still warm, 30–35 °C in September easing to around 25 °C in November, sea at its warmest in early autumn
These are typical values; actual weather varies from year to year, and the wind can make winter evenings and boat trips feel cooler.
Best time for winter sun from Europe
If you are travelling from Germany, France or elsewhere in Europe, November to March is the classic choice. While home is cold and dark, Sharm offers pleasant beach days, ideal temperatures for desert safaris and calm, clear water. Pack a light jacket for evenings and boat trips. Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays are busy, so book early.
Best time for snorkelling and diving
The Red Sea is good for diving all year, but water temperatures between May and November make long dives more comfortable. Visibility is excellent in most months. For a first introductory dive or a yacht day to Ras Mohammed, spring and autumn combine warm water with comfortable air temperatures.
Best time for families
Families from Europe often choose the autumn and Easter holidays, when it is warm but not too hot for children. Families from Saudi Arabia and the UAE frequently travel in winter breaks and during the summer holidays; in summer, plan beach time for the morning and late afternoon, and use the midday hours for shade, pools or indoor activities.
When is it cheapest?
Prices usually rise during European school holidays, Christmas and New Year, Easter and Eid periods. Outside these dates — for example in late November, early December or late spring — you can often find better value and quieter resorts. Our tip
There is no bad month in Sharm El Sheikh, only different holiday styles. Choose winter for mild sunshine, spring and autumn for the best balance, and summer for the warmest sea. Whatever you choose, send us your dates and we will suggest the right resort for that season.
