The Red Sea is one of the closest places to France where you can swim in warm water all winter. Flights from Paris and other French cities reach Sharm El Sheikh in around four and a half to five hours, with direct and charter connections that vary by season. Egypt is just one hour ahead of Paris for most of the year, so a long weekend or a full week of sunshine is easy to plan.
How we help travellers from France
Our team plans your stay in English, so you always know exactly what is booked. We start with a few questions — who is travelling, your budget and whether you want beach time, diving or exploring — then send you a clear offer with hotel options, private transfers and the excursions that fit.
- Resort matching: elegant adults-only hotels for couples, spacious family resorts, or reef-front hotels for snorkellers
- Private transfers between the airport and your hotel
- Excursions with hotel pick-up, from yacht days to desert dinners
- One contact on WhatsApp for every question before and during the trip
Entry requirements for French citizens
Like other EU citizens, French nationals staying only in the South Sinai resorts for up to 15 days can usually enter with a free “Sinai only” stamp. A visa on arrival or an e-visa is needed for visits to Cairo, Luxor or longer stays, and your passport should be valid for six months. Please check the latest advice from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs before travelling; we can confirm the current rules for you.
When to go
The French school holidays in autumn, at Christmas and in February are ideal for Sharm: sunny days around 22–27 °C and sea temperatures that stay comfortable for snorkelling. Spring is excellent too. From June to September the heat is intense, which suits divers and sun lovers who want the warmest sea.
Ideas for your stay
For couples, we love a refined resort near Soho Square or the quiet coast of Ras Nasrani. Families usually prefer the long beaches of Nabq Bay. Balance lazy beach days with a Ras Mohammed yacht trip, a camel ride and Bedouin dinner or an evening at the Old Market and Al Sahaba Mosque.
