From Dubai or Abu Dhabi, Sharm El Sheikh is a flight of around three to three and a half hours — close enough for a long weekend, different enough to feel like a real escape. Instead of skyscrapers you get rugged desert mountains, and instead of city beaches some of the most famous coral reefs in the world, right in front of your resort.
Why travellers from the UAE love Sharm
- Nature on your doorstep: Ras Mohammed National Park and the Straits of Tiran are among the Red Sea’s most celebrated snorkelling and diving areas
- Luxury at good value: high-end resorts and private villas often cost noticeably less than a comparable stay in the Gulf
- Easy planning: we organise everything in Arabic or English, from the hotel to private transfers and yacht days
- Short transfers: most resorts are 10 to 30 minutes from the airport
Entry requirements
Visa rules depend on each traveller’s nationality and residence status. UAE nationals, residents of other nationalities and visitors may each have different options, and Egypt updates its requirements from time to time. Send us the nationalities in your group and we will confirm what applies before you book.
The best time to come
Sharm El Sheikh is pleasant from October to May, with warm days and calm seas — a refreshing change from the Gulf’s humid months. Long weekends, National Day and the winter school break are popular, so plan ahead. Summer in Sharm is hot but drier than the Gulf, and the sea is at its warmest for diving.
Our favourite ways to spend the days
Charter a yacht to Ras Mohammed and White Island, try an introductory dive with a licensed centre, or ride into the desert at sunset on a quad bike safari. In the evening, stroll through Soho Square or dine in the lantern-lit Old Market. For your stay, we often suggest the Four Seasons, Rixos Sharm El Sheikh for adults, or the family favourites of Nabq Bay.

Questions about this trip

Still have a question?
Send it on WhatsApp — a real person from our team replies, in your language.
WhatsAppHow long is the flight from Dubai to Sharm El Sheikh?
A flight from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Sharm El Sheikh takes around three to three and a half hours when direct. Depending on the season and airline, some itineraries connect via Cairo. Share your preferred dates and we will plan the hotel and private airport transfer around your flight times.
Is Sharm El Sheikh good for a long weekend?
Yes. With a short flight and quick transfers, three or four nights are enough for real rest plus one highlight, such as a yacht day to Ras Mohammed or a desert sunset. We suggest choosing a resort close to the airport and the activities you care about most, so none of your weekend is lost on the road.
Can you arrange luxury villas or private pool rooms?
Yes, several of the resorts we work with offer villas, suites or rooms with private or semi-private pools. Availability is limited in peak periods, so tell us your dates, group size and budget early. We will compare the options for you and explain the differences clearly before you decide.
Do I need a visa to visit Sharm El Sheikh from the UAE?
It depends on your nationality and residence status, not on the country you fly from. UAE nationals, UAE residents of other nationalities and tourists may have different visa routes, and Egyptian rules change from time to time. Send us the details for everyone travelling and we will confirm the current requirements before booking.
