You don’t need to fly to Cairo or Luxor to meet ancient Egypt. The Sharm El Sheikh Museum brings together artefacts from different eras of Egyptian history — statues, jewellery, tools and objects from daily life — presented in modern, air-conditioned halls. Together with the Tutankhamun-themed exhibition in Sharm, it is a perfect cultural break from the beach.
What you will see
- Pharaonic treasures: statues, coffins and decorated objects that tell the story of Egypt’s kings and gods
- Daily life in ancient Egypt: tools, pottery and jewellery that show how people lived
- The story of Tutankhamun: the young king and the discovery of his famous tomb
Good to know
The visit takes around two to three hours with hotel pick-up, and it works well on a hot afternoon or a windy day when the sea is rough. It suits curious travellers of every age; children often enjoy the stories of mummies and pharaohs. If the museum inspires you to see more, ask us about day trips to other parts of Egypt.

Questions about this trip

Still have a question?
Send it on WhatsApp — a real person from our team replies, in your language.
WhatsAppIs the museum worth visiting if I have seen museums in Cairo?
The Sharm El Sheikh Museum is smaller and more compact than the great museums of Cairo, which makes it easy to enjoy in a couple of hours. It is ideal if you are not travelling to Cairo or want a relaxed introduction to Egyptian history during a beach holiday.
Is the museum tour good for children?
Yes. Children are often fascinated by mummies, pharaohs and the story of Tutankhamun, and the visit is short enough to keep them interested. The halls are air-conditioned, which makes it a welcome break on hot days. Strollers can usually be used inside.
Can I take photos in the museum?
Photography rules in Egyptian museums can change and sometimes require a separate photo ticket. Flash is generally not allowed to protect the artefacts. We check the current rules for you before the visit, so you know whether to bring your camera.
