See the Magic Lake, the great earthquake crack and the mangrove channels, with snorkelling stops on the park's beaches.

Ras Mohammed is Egypt’s first national park, protecting the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula and its extraordinary reefs. Visiting by land is a great alternative to a boat trip, especially for travellers who prefer to stay on solid ground or want to see the park’s desert landscapes as well as its coast.
Highlights of the tour
- The Magic Lake: a salty lagoon whose colours shift with the light — local legend says a wish made here comes true
- The earthquake crack: a long fissure in the ground left by an ancient earthquake, filled with clear water
- Mangrove channels: one of the northernmost mangrove forests in the world, home to birds and young fish
- Beach snorkelling: stops at beaches where you can walk straight into the water and snorkel over coral
Practical information
The tour usually takes about half a day, with hotel pick-up in the morning. Bring your passport or a copy, as there is a checkpoint at the park entrance, plus swimwear, water shoes, reef-safe sunscreen and a hat. National park fees depend on the season and are confirmed in your offer. For the full sea experience, you can also see the park from the water on our Ras Mohammed yacht trip.

Questions about this trip

Still have a question?
Send it on WhatsApp — a real person from our team replies, in your language.
WhatsAppShould I visit Ras Mohammed by land or by boat?
Both are rewarding. The land tour shows you the Magic Lake, the earthquake crack and the mangroves, with snorkelling from the beach — great for those who prefer not to spend a day on a boat. The yacht trip focuses on the reefs and White Island. Many guests choose based on comfort at sea and interests.
Do I need my passport for Ras Mohammed?
Yes, please bring your passport or a clear copy, as there is a security checkpoint on the road to the national park. Your guide will tell you if the original is required on the day. Keep it in a waterproof bag together with your phone during the snorkelling stops.
Is the land tour suitable for families?
Yes. The stops involve short walks, and the beach snorkelling spots allow children to enter the water gradually. It is a good option for families with younger children or anyone prone to seasickness. Bring water shoes, as the shore can be rocky, and plenty of drinking water.
When is the best time to visit Ras Mohammed?
The park can be visited all year. Mornings are best, with softer light, calmer water and cooler temperatures — especially in summer. From October to May the weather is pleasant all day. We schedule your tour so you enjoy the snorkelling stops when conditions are at their best.
